The Opportunity:
Uplift, located in downtown Ann Arbor, is seeking responsible security members to join our team. At Uplift, we’re building a neighborhood bar that centers our community, and we know that being and feeling safe is the first step of any great experience. To us, creating a safe environment extends beyond just physical safety - we want our security team to know our patrons, and we want them to know you too. Balancing warmth and responsibility will be important so that our guests feel safe, are comfortable raising safety concerns, and are encouraged to looking out for others by following safety protocols. Our space will be lively but intimate during weekdays, and fast-paced on the weekends.

Responsibilities
Create a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons
Check customer identification to confirm it meets legal drinking age before allowing entry
Collect and store cover charges on applicable nights
Monitor indoor and outdoor spaces during busy nights and escalate or intervene as necessary
Monitor entry and exit points to ensure safety, capacity compliance, and good flow of foot traffic
Qualifications
Proven working experience in security (1+ years)
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the job, including lifting heavy items and standing for long periods
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Conversational proficiency in multiple languages is a plus (but not required)
Formal security training is a plus (but not required)
Participate in mandatory health, safety and Uplift-specific training
Comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations for restaurants and bars
